Responsible for supervising administrative and mechanical personnel involved in the repair of over 460 pieces of equipment and vehicles for the central maintenance facility. Types of equipment serviced at the facility include aerial lift trucks, police vehicles, heavy road machinery, Water Utility vehicles and equipment, horizontal wood grinders, wheel loaders, snow plows, heavy trucks, and other equipment associated with municipal operations.

- Organized and centralized vehicle fueling operations to integrate with scheduled vehicle maintenance.

City of Vineland, Vineland, New Jersey

Director/Superintendent Public Works 2001-2008

Directly involved with organizing and planning all facets of the Public Works Department. Vineland Public Works include the Road Department, Water Utility, Recreation, Parks, Buildings, Engineering, Planning, and Solid Waste. Responsibilities include Green Acres projects, solid waste contracts, road paving program, building renovations, department relocation, vehicle and equipment maintenance, public bidding, purchasing, union contracts, and education. Recommended and initiated personnel actions such as employment, performance evaluations, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures. Initiated a work order program to achieve an efficient and effective workforce. Prepared yearly and 5 year capital budgets. Communicated with citizens regarding concerns and activities of the department.

Achievements

▪   Initiated a comprehensive evaluation of the Public Works Department in 2004.

   Developed and implemented plans and strategies to maintain over 260 miles of roadway.

   Organized staff and equipment to have a comprehensive approach using GIS tracking for snow         

     removal for a city of over 69 square miles.

   Acquired equipment to service approximately 18,000 residents with leaf and brush pickup.

   Oversaw a budget of $6.8 million for trash and recycling pickup.

   Implemented a long-term approach for the modernization of facilities and equipment for a Public Works

    Department.

   Initiated a plan to comply with the Department of Environmental Protection Storm Water Regulations,

    including equipment acquisition, drain cleaning, GIS mapping, drainage repairs, street sweeping, as

    well as annual record keeping and reporting.                           

   Planned and prepared bid specifications for the construction of a salt storage facility and storm drain

    cleaning equipment.

   Initiated the computerization of all maintenance activities and records for vehicles and equipment.

   Prepared plans for the construction of a facility for the centralization of vehicle maintenance, vehicle

    washing, and disposal of drainage spoils.

Eastern Asphalt Maintenance, Vineland, New Jersey

Owner, 1997 - 2005

Oversaw all aspects of this business. Directly involved in bidding, project management, material procurement, vehicle maintenance, and customer relations.  Supervised crews in paving, line striping, sign installation, drainage repair, and seal coating.  Worked hands on during milling, grading, paving, and restoration of roadways.
